It is a humbling experience to be invited to share the devotional message with you today. My prayer has been that we might be joined by the Holy Spirit, that we might be lifted and directed and edified. When I was first invited to speak today, I surveyed the students in my economics class, asking them what they felt would be a good devotional topic. The Bible's teaching about the armor of God -- found in Ephesians 6 -- shows us how to take a stand against temptations to sin. It is among the easiest passages of Scripture to teach to teenagers because it uses a simple metaphor -- a suit of armor and the protection it provides -- to explain how we can protect ourselves from sin. Today is the final day we are taking an inside look at the themes found in Open My Eyes , our new curriculum for senior high students on studying the Bible. Students will put into practice the different inductive Bible study techniques they have learned as they look at Scripture to discover these truths. Although we are instructed to strive to believe, John recorded the two responses people have to Jesus—acceptance or rejection. Our responses are not always what they should be, but God mercifully withholds judgment and extends His grace towards men to give them the opportunity to repent.
